Class Descriptions

The focus of our classes is on concepts, techniques and tips that will help you transform any recipe or preparation into a healthy, great tasting dish everyone will rave about! In addition, other aspects of healthy living will be covered and discussed.

Whether you’re a novice in the kitchen or you’re an experienced chef, we have something for every level. We offer different class types, covering a wide range of topics, that even those with special dietary needs can attend. We’ll get you cooking with new ideas and tips that will inspire your own creativity.

Demonstration Style (D)

An in depth look at specific cooking topics and techniques that feature interactive and informative lessons, recipes for the food presented, and tastings of everything prepared during class.

Hands-On Classes: Grab an Apron and Get Cooking! (H)

Actively participate and practice each step of the cooking process and bring home detailed information for each recipe, valuable tips that were used, and the food that you prepared during class.

Series Classes (C)

Cooking 101, Cooking 201, Healthy Cooking and more!

Weekly or bi-weekly, small group, hands-on classes that puts you in the kitchen! In these series you will apply basic cooking knowledge and skills as we tackle fundamental cooking techniques, learn about ingredients and build a cooking habit. Each session will focus on a specific area of cooking as you and your fellow students learn the step by step preparation of 2-3 core dishes. You will build a library of go-to, basic recipes and master core skills and techniques while you gain confidence and proficiency in the kitchen that will translate into healthier eating and overall improved well-being. If you are looking to advance and improve your cooking skills, these classes are for you!

Young Chefs (exclusively for 8 – 16 year olds)

Cooking is a life skill that should be started at a young age. Our young chef classes teach age-appropriate kitchen skills ranging from reading a recipe and proper measuring techniques to knife skills and whipping egg whites. As our young chefs learn basic preparation and cooking skills they gain confidence and independence, learn and practice basic math and science, expand their palates, build creativity and have fun!

Cooking With Friends

Groups of 2-4 students are mentored through the preparation, cooking and presentation of a 4-course theme based dinner. The evening culminates with the group enjoying the meal together.

Private Events (P)

Enjoy the cooking process and learn new cooking techniques and ideas while having fun with your group. Demonstration, hands-on or hybrid classes available. Contact us to discuss your unique event.

All classes require pre-registration and payment. Cash, Check and Major Credit Cards accepted. Reservations will be accepted until class fills or 48 hours before class start whichever occurs first. All classes may be subject to cancellation or rescheduling by Mrs. Dornberg’s (minimum of 48 hours in advance of class start).

CANCELLATION POLICY: Full payment for classes is required at time of reservation. We understand that life happens, and emergencies do occur. However, we also have a commitment to all our students, and there is a great deal of preparation and scheduling that goes into creating and executing each class. Therefore, all cooking classes are NON-REFUNDABLE, much like a sporting event or theater ticket, but can be rescheduled if cancellation is made 72 hours or more prior to class. If you are unable to attend a class, we encourage you to send someone in your place. In this case, please notify us of the participant change.

Cancellation notice given 72 hours or more in advance of your scheduled class, will receive a credit (valid for 6 months from the date of the original class) toward a future class registration. If class was being paid via Gift Certificate or previous credit certificate, the amount will be returned to the certificate (with original expiration date still in effect.) NO CREDIT will be issued for cancellations within 72 hours of a class. In this case, you may contact us to see if we have a waiting list. If there is a waiting list for that class, we will TRY to find a replacement for you. We do NOT GUARANTEE that we will be able to fill the spot. If we do fill the spot, you will receive a credit (valid for 6 months from date of class) towards future class registrations.

If for any reason, including insufficient enrollment, Mrs. Dornberg’s Culinary Experience needs to cancel or reschedule a class, you will be notified (via email or phone) a minimum of 24 hours prior to the class and given the option of a credit for another class or a full refund. If a class is cancelled due to inclement weather, we will notify you as soon as that decision is made and you will receive your choice of a credit toward another class or a full refund. Please note, classes are rarely cancelled due to weather and if the class is held, there will be no refunds due to the weather.

Mrs. Dornberg’s Culinary Experience reserves the right to cancel or modify classes and menus.

FOOD ALLERGIES AND SENSITIVITES: Please contact us at least one week in advance if you have food allergies or sensitivities. You are responsible for advising us of the type and severity of your condition. We will try to accommodate you to the best of our ability, but please understand that we spend weeks preparing the menus and logistics for each class, and it is very difficult to make changes at the last minute, and at times, cannot be modified. We only have one kitchen and a variety of food items are used and come in contact with each other. All cooking items are cleaned in a sanitizing solution between use.
